My first time participating in Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge and it’s on the subject of rust.
Oradour-sur-Glane was the scene of a massacre of over 600 French civilians in June 1944, and ever since the village has been left as it was, as a memorial and open-air museum. Inevitably, there’s a lot of rust about, including this car and petrol pump.
Wow, what a sad story, but I love how time has stopped and let the rust take over.
Thanks so much for participating in my weekly photo challenge.
Love the photography and overall lesson. As a historian, and Hugh’s stand-in for this week’s round up and new Challenge poster, since he’s in the process of moving, I am happy I came along at this time. I love learning about events, good or bad, it’s great to know for future’s sake.
Thanks very much for the kind comments and picking out my first contribution. Oradour is quite a remarkable place as both museum and memorial.
