For this week’s instalment of Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge, here is a photograph taken at Chateau d’Amboise, in the Indre-et-Loire départment of central France. The chateau’s main claim to fame is that it’s the burial place of Leonardo da Vinci.

Palm tree at Hili Oasis

Another entry for this week’s Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge. Taken at the Hili Oasis in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, this is the stump of a palm tree that’s had a severe pruning.

Photography 101: Architecture

A view of – a small part of – the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. In ‘real’ life, of course, this would be shimmering white marble (topped with gold) against a clear blue sky.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abandoned

Oradour-sur-Glane is a village not far from here. In 1944 it was the scene of a Nazi atrocity, which can be read about here. A new village was built nearby after the war, but the original is now preserved as a permanent museum and memorial to the 642 named victims.
