The small figures at the foot of the wall give some idea of the colossal scale of the Cathédrale Sainte-Cécile in Albi. The building is 40 metres high and an astonishing 113m in length.

Albi is the principal town of the Tarn departément and its main railway station was once clearly very busy. However, now only two sets of tracks are in use.

A typical staircase in a typical Paris hotel. Our room was on the top (sixth) floor. And, as usual, the lift is about as big as an upright refrigerator.

This is the road that runs through the Cotswold village of Hook Norton, not far from where our son and his family live.
And that’s our grand-daughter smelling the roses outside that spectacularly floribund house.
