Thou still unravish’d bride of quietness,…

When old age shall this generation waste,
Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say’st,
“Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.”
Keats: Ode on a Grecian Urn
One of my favourite poems by one of my favourite poets, John Keats. The entire poem consists of five stanzas of ten lines each and is well worth reading in its entirety.
The urn in the image is an authentic museum copy.
Lens-Artists Challenge: Illustrate A Favourite Poem
Interestingly when I saw your post in the reader two other posts came up by different people featuring the same poem. I remember it from high school (which is definitely an example of long-term memory, and of the importance of the poem. I loved how you illustrated it! Well chosen and beautifully shown.
Nice work in illustrating the poem. I am unfamiliar with it, so I’ll be visiting your link to the entire work. Thanks for sharing.
Love Keats and this ode is beautiful and beautifully illustrated – perfect. I was very taken by his fate and the other two poets’ fate there in Italy. Today he is more renowned than ever.
A great choice by Keats, and most powerful with the choice of 1 photo.
Very well done. The poem came to mind before I read your quote. (P.S. I love authentic copies. 😉 😉 )
Beautiful quote and photo. What a joy to read Keats’ verses and see your image.
Well chosen quote and illustration to go with it
Excellent photo choice for Keats poem, they’re perfectly suited.
