This is the road that, about a mile and a half further on, eventually gets to the hamlet that we call Tranquility Base.
The sheep isn’t supposed to be there of course, but it’s not at all uncommon around here to come across one that’s managed to escape from wherever it’s meant to be.
The Collegiate Church of St Junien

It’s easy to forget that when the majority of ‘medieval’ churches were built, they would have completely dominated the surrounding area.
In France, this is perhaps especially obvious in the northern half of the country, which contains vast tracts of flat farmland. The great cathedral of Chartres, for example, can quite literally be seen for miles around.
In modern times, of course, whole towns and cities have developed around the older churches, diminishing their visual impact. However, in the nearby town of Saint-Junien, the Collegiate church (not, in truth, an exceptionally large edifice) still has some open aspects.
I took this photo while standing outside a Chinese takeaway, which definitely wasn’t there when the church was built.
Chocolate Box

We visited this chocolate box floral village on a coach trip arranged by the local Association les Amis des Fleurs, so it’s no surprise that there’s plenty of greenery in evidence in this street scene.

Week 12 of the 52 Weeks Photo Challenge hosted by The Girl That Dreams Awake has the topic of ‘Street’.
The genre of ‘street photography’ isn’t really my thing. However, this is probably my favourite street view: the road that runs through our hamlet of ‘Tranquility Base’. In the rush hour.
(Confession time: I’ve used this image before, in a post on my other site. Although, to judge from the stats, you won’t have seen it.)
