Before we retired to France, we came over for a few weeks each summer to see how the renovations of Brokedown Palace were coming along. We generally stayed at a Chambre d’Hôte in nearby Le Dorat.
One weekend while we were there, however, the place was being used for a wedding reception, and since our room overlooked the garden in which it was being held, they were good enough to invite us. It was quite a spread…

Here’s one I’d completely forgotten about. This was taken with a compact camera at my daughter’s wedding reception almost ten years ago. Technically, of course, it’s a shocker (the metadata tells me that the exposure was half a second).
In mitigation, though, it was getting quite late by then and a fair amount of champagne had been consumed. Plus the composition – quite accidentally, of course – is quite pleasing.
And it’s nothing if not vivid.
