Monochrome Madness: Transport

I have no end of pictures of various forms of transport suitable for this week’s Monochrome Madness theme of ‘Transport’. I think I’m especially well-equipped for tractors – unsurprisingly, given our location in the depths of rural France.

However, I thought I’d go with this. No, it’s not a child’s drawing of a bicycle – this is Leonardo da Vinci’s design for a bicycle, on display in a museum in the city of Venice. Note the characteristic mirror writing.

It looks a bit of a bone-shaker, to be honest, but it can’t be denied that he was well ahead of his time.

The recycled bicycle

This old bicycle which has been repurposed as a sort of window-box was just crying out for the sepia treatment.

52 Weeks Photo Challenge: Week 36 – Simple Things

An artfully rusted bicycle propped up against a wall in the village of Saint-Martial-sur-Isop during last weekend’s Fête de la Laine (hence the woolly decorations).

A simple subject framed according to the simple Rule of Thirds.

Thursday Doors: Abu Dhabi (again)

My earlier posting of a door in Abu Dhabi was uncompromisingly modern. This one, however is not so much a door as a still-life with bicycle. This irresistible combination was found down by the water in one of the older parts of the city.

Bricks and a bike in Bruges

Three for the price of one this week.

Cee’s latest Black & White challenge  calls for something beginning with either B or W. Well, here is an image of a bicycle propped up against a brick wall in Bruges. Which, come to think of it, is in Belgium.

Oh, and what do bicycles have? Why, wheels of course. So make that four for the price of one.
