Our house, and its attached barns, are well over two hundred years old and appear to have been continuously occupied – or, at the very least, actively utilised – for that entire period. It’s hardly surprising, therefore, that every so often a n ancient and forgotten artefact turns up somewhere.
This old key is one of the latest to appear. If it hasn’t aged well it’s certainly rusted in a visually interesting manner.

Say what you like about the humble tortoise, but they’re never going to run away from you when you’re trying to get in for a close-up shot to reveal the intricate textures of shell and body.

A couple of years ago, when such things were still permitted, there was an ‘expo’ of hobbies and (in the French sense) ‘passions’ in the village.
One exhibitor displayed part of his collection of decorative tiles, of which this was one of the most striking.
