Frank’s theme this week is ‘Focus’. We’re all supposed to try and get our images pin-sharp, apparently, but sometimes a little judicious out-of-focus or bokeh seems to make the focus stand out even more.

For Frank’s theme of ‘City’ this week, here is the view from the balcony of our apartment at sunset. The traffic wasn’t usually quite so bad, but it was National Day.

Frank’s challenge this week has the theme of key. Rather rarer than the locks or keyholes that they marry up with, but I did find this impressive set, which must once have belonged to the chatelaine, in an old house in the Dordogne which is now a museum.

Frank’s theme for this week is ‘sculpture’. I certainly have no shortage of images to choose from to fit in with that, but I decided to go with this close-up from Barzaghi’s 1882 ‘Monument to Nicoló Tommaseo’, who looks down on the passing hordes with faint amusement from his plinth in Campo Santo Stefano in Venice. The detail is extraordinary.

Frank’s theme for his Tuesday Photo Challenge this week is ‘Tower’. This image gives you two for the price of one.
It shows an aspect of the church in the preserved village (and national monument) of Oradour-sur-Glane.

Frank has set the theme of ‘Worship’ for the Tuesday Photo Challenge this week.
Always pleased to have an opportunity to showcase one of the most visually stunning places of worship you’re ever likely to see – he Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Frank’s theme for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge is ‘Growth’, so flowers seems like a logical place to go to find an appropriate image, notwithstanding that I posted a picture of some roses last time.
I saw this tightly packed group of lily buds in the Botanical Gardens in Sydney a few years ago. There’s plenty of potential growth here and perhaps the tight crop lifts the shot a little out of the ordinary.
