My grandson was eagerly anticipating getting a piece of his first birthday cake.

I wonder if Frank had forgotten that the theme for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge – Memories – is the same as one he set in March this year?
Whatever, this is perhaps the oldest photo I’ve ever posted here, it having been taken in the summer of 1978 on a family holiday in Cornwall. That’s our daughter being delighted at her first experience in a boat that we’d come across when she and I went for a walk on the beach.
I remember quite clearly that when we got back to where we were staying she went round proudly telling anyone who would listen: “I’ve been in a boat”.

Frank has set the theme of ‘Birthday’ for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge and invites us to take creative licence with the subject.
So naturally I am taking it absolutely literally, with this image of one of our twin grandsons on the actual day of his birth. They were very premature and very small, as you can see. They spent a good few weeks in intensive care before they were allowed home. You should see them now, though, eleven years later.

My grandson picks out a tune (kind of…) on the new toy keyboard that he’s just got for Christmas.

My twin grandsons were born very prematurely – and tiny. Even after a couple of months they were still very small, as you can tell from this image.

It’s hard to think of any promises more important than wedding vows.

This week, Frank asked us to share a photo that encapsulates special memories.
Memories of family are always important, of course but we will also always treasure the ten years we spent living in Abu Dhabi.
This image encapsulates both. Taken in the Corniche Park, here with Madame is our darling daughter and our twin grandsons, on their first visit to Abu Dhabi back in 2008.

The latest WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge wants a picture to tell a story (doesn’t every picture?).
Here is storytime from Grandma for the twin grandsons. Not sure that they pay quite such rapt attention now that they’re ten going on eleven.

A month or so ago, during the school half-term holiday, we went with our ten-year old grandsons to an indoor climbing centre.
This photograph was taken with an (old) iPhone, so not the best quality, but it certainly conveys a message to match Frank’s theme for this week.

Another dip into the archives for the Weekly Photo Challenge this time, as I’m still away from home and therefore from full access to my image library.
Here, my grandson takes a peek around the patio door of our apartment in Abu Dhabi. He – and his twin brother – are rather bigger now.
