Answering Frank’s call for posts on the theme of ‘Rain’ for this week was a bit of a challenge. I’m something of a fair-weather photographer, so if it does happen to be raining then the chances are that I’ll be inside and not out getting wet and taking pictures.
Here’s an acceptable compromise, though. I captured this image in the Hunter Valley wine-growing region of Australia a few years ago. It wasn’t actually raining at the time, but it was just about to.
And how.

For this week, the challenge set by The Girl That Dreams Awake is to post a photo with the subject of ‘rain’. I tend not to take photographs while it’s raining, because who needs a waterlogged camera?
However, is it not the case that there’s no rainbow without rain? The clouds in this image certainly look full of it.
This picture was snatched with my iPhone (rainbows wait for no man) and shows a quite impressive rainbow over the house of our neighbour.

Weather has come around again for Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge. Last time I put up a picture of freezing fog close to home, but on this occasion here is an image taken on the other side of the world, in the Hunter Valley in Australia.

Over at my other place, I’ve written about Leonard Cohen and this challenge seemed like a good opportunity to use this image of an impending rainstorm as an alternative cover for his first album. If you’re at all familiar with his work – especially the early years – you’ll know what I mean.
