Lens-Artists Challenge – Magical

This is a view of the pond that lies in the middle of our little hamlet. By the way, the reflection is at the top of the image. And that’s magic.

Cellpic Sunday: Seismic Shift

I took this photograph from one of the bridges over the River Tarn in Albi, as we were walking back to our hotel. There is a weir at this point in the river and I couldn’t help but notice the effect this had on what would otherwise have been a perfectly nice, but pretty ordinary, reflection.

Both Sides Now

A clever way of getting an all-round view of this elaborately decorative pendant, on display in the Victoria & Albert Museum (‘The V&A’) in London.

Diffraction

Patterns of reflections and diffraction from a half-full (or should that be half-empty?) glass of water sitting on our dining table.

Tranquil reflections

A scene from the bustling metropolis that we call home and refer to as Tranquility Base. Our house lies behind these two, which are reflected in the village pond (étang).

The ripple – probably caused by one of the myriad frogs that colonise the pond – adds interest and helps to balance the image.

Residency in Dubai

Last week, Cee wanted images of old buildings; this time it’s modern homes. I stayed (relatively) local for the old buildings – being pretty much surrounded by them in this part of France, quite apart from actually living in one myself.

Of course there are modern homes here too, but most of them are just not very interesting to look at. Whereas in Dubai pretty much everything is modern and a lot of it is architecturally noteworthy. This is the Pearl Resdence, one of the almost literally countless residential apartment blocks in the city. That’s another one reflected in its plate glass frontage.
