Stacked

There’s a long-running saga about a pallet-full of old roof tiles that our builders have ‘parked’ with us temporarily for about the past ten years. To be fair, they have used some of them to repair a couple of minor leaks that sprang up during this period, but there are still plenty hanging around.

The house opposite my daughter’s has just got a new roof…

Cropping in to exclude everything but the tiles themselves not only removes distractions but also brings out the texture of the tiles as well as the patterns they form – obviously all helped by a bright, sunny day.

Cellpic Sunday: A room without a view

A few weeks ago, my entry for Cellpic Sunday was a rather attractive view from a hotel room.

This is also a view from a (different) hotel room. Rather less prepossessing, but with a little judicious cropping and straightening in Lightroom it’s possible to produce a rather more interesting image.

Wall topping

We had a wall built across the end of our field so that we could have an enclosed garden. It’s actually made from breeze blocks, but we used some old roof tiles to add interest to the top.

Now that they’ve had ten years or more to weather in, they have acquired some interesting textures and adhesions, and of course the snail (spot the snail) is obligatory.

On the tiles

It’s a few years ago now, but our builders asked if, as a temporary measure, they could leave a pallet stacked with old rooftiles outside our barn.

‘Of course not’, we said. ‘Just collect them when you’re ready’, we said.

They’re not ready.

Tuesdays of Texture: Rooftiles

Our builders got very excited when a friend of theirs offered them a pallet full of old roof tiles. They asked if they could leave them with us and of course we said yes. They left them, on the pallet, just outside our barn. That was about two years ago.
