I missed out on posting a window last Monday, so to make up the shortfall here are two fine examples of stained glass, from the Cathedral of Saint Front, in Perigueux.

Last week I featured a window at the chateau in Azay-Le-Ferron, and this week I’ve moved on to the church.
Stained glass is nowhere near as impressive when viewed from the outside, but it’s an interesting and attractive window nonetheless, and harmonises well with the church door, I think.

Any village around here worth its salt has a medieval church, but the one at Blond – which, unusually, is fortified – is one of the more impressive. Note the thickness of the walls.

Stained glass again this week, and another window from the old church in the nearby village of Saint Martial sur Isop. The image also gives a good idea of the thickness of the walls.

In the town of Pompadour is the spectacularly painted Chapel of St. Blaise. This, however, is the plain window of an austere little side-chapel.

It’s a week for stained glass again on the Monday Window Challenge hosted by Ludwig. This is to be found in the cathedral of Limoges.

Regular viewers of these weekly posts may have noticed that I alternate between religious and secular windows. On this particular Monday it’s time for a massive display of stained glass, here ifrom the recently refurbished cathedral in the city of Nantes.

An obviously restored but none the less accomplished stained glass window from the medieval church in the town of Confolens. If you look closely it is possible to see that it wasn’t actually in situ, but rather was resting on the wooden floor, propped up against a wall.
