November’s Last Photo

I was struck by the contrast of this brightly coloured dead leaf set against the green moss on the top of one of our raised flower beds.

The courtyard

The warm glow of the sodium lights gives a caramel tone to this view of the courtyard of a hotel in the centre of Toulouse.

Weathered

About a mile from our placee is a slowly rotting old house, irretrievably derelict. The roof has now collapsed, but most of the window frames are still just about intact.

Stone Staircases

These stone staircases can be found in the crypt of the subterranean church at Aubeterre-sur-Dronne.

Tangerine

You wanted a tangerine? So here’s a tangerine…

The wedding car

Back in the summer, I did the ‘official’ photography of the wedding of the daughter of a friend. The bride was driven to the ceremony by her father in this sporty little number.

It most definitely had an engine (although no bonus point for actually showing it), but also this attractively laid-out – and now rather retro – interior arrangement of wheels and dials.

Bristly

This is a close look at the buds of a borage plant. It’s a herb with bright blue flowers that – apparently – taste like honey and are occasionally used as garnishes for salads and drinks. The stems and buds have a distinctly bristly appearance, are also edible and – also apparently – have a distinctive cucumber-like flavour. I’ll take their word for it.

October’s Last Photo

Autumn is now well advanced, but this borage has appeared only recently. We have seen a few in the past couple of years, all emanating from a bag of mixed wildflower seeds that were sewn in, and until now confined to, raised flower beds, but this one obviously jumped over the side and managed to make its escape.

Halfway there

Heading west from our house, it’s about a mile to the nearest ‘main’ (everything is relative) road. This stretch of the glorified track is at about the halfway mark.

The Liver Bird Reigns Supreme

This cloud formation over our house was too interesting to ignore…

…especially as it reminded me of the iconic Liver Bird, the symbol of Liverpool, the finest city on earth:
