Complementary Cars
Posted on July 8, 2020
How thoughtful of the owners of these two old cars not only to park side-by-side outside the village shop, but also to choose complementary colours.

Monday Window: Perigueux Cathedral
Posted on July 6, 2020
I missed out on posting a window last Monday, so to make up the shortfall here are two fine examples of stained glass, from the Cathedral of Saint Front, in Perigueux.

52 Week Smartphone Challenge: 27 Gratitude

I am eternally grateful that these beautiful eyes look at me and aren’t repelled by what they see.

Look up
Posted on July 3, 2020
A view of part of the mightily impressive vaulted and domed ceiling of the Cathedral of Saint-Front in Perigueux.
I did my usual trick of lying the camera on the floor pointing upwards, setting the timer and hovering just out of shot to make sure that nobody steps on it. It gives a different perspective and also stops you getting a crick in your neck.

Faded Fresco

52 Week Smartphone Challenge: 26 Geometry
Posted on June 27, 2020
We reach the halfway point of the 52 Week Smartphone Challenge with, thankfully, a reasonably straightforward theme: geometry.

The old florists’ shop
Posted on June 26, 2020
This shop, formerly a florists’, is one of many in the town of Bellac that is now closed and boarded up. But it’s a lot more attractive than most.

Kitchen doorknob
Posted on June 23, 2020
Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week demands images of doorknobs.
Her wish is my command, so here – viewed from above – is the knob on one of the drawers in our kitchen. They look nice, but do try to avoid walking into them.

Monday Window: The church at Azay-Le-Ferron
Posted on June 22, 2020
Last week I featured a window at the chateau in Azay-Le-Ferron, and this week I’ve moved on to the church.
Stained glass is nowhere near as impressive when viewed from the outside, but it’s an interesting and attractive window nonetheless, and harmonises well with the church door, I think.

‘Free as a bird’. That’s what they say, isn’t it?
