The empty chair

For this week’s instalment of Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge, here is a photograph taken at Chateau d’Amboise, in the Indre-et-Loire départment of central France.

The chateau’s main claim to fame is that it’s the burial place of Leonardo da Vinci.

This is the skull of an oryx that I came across just lying on the ground in the nature reserve on Sir Bani Yas island in Abu Dhabi.

The sights of Venice

For this week’s entry to Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge, here is an image from Venice, which does feature a road (‘Calle’) leading down to the Grand Canal, although it’s a moot point whether the road is the principal focus for the gentleman on the left.

The high contrast from the strong shadows works well in Black & White, I think, as does the highlighted texture of the walls.

Palm tree at Hili Oasis

Another entry for this week’s Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge.

Taken at the Hili Oasis in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, this is the stump of a palm tree that’s had a severe pruning.

The woodpile

Last year, we had a dead oak tree at the bottom of one of our fields. Patrice, the local forestier, cut it down for us and turned it into logs for our woodburning stoves. This year, it’s helping to keep us warm.

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Feet

http://ceenphotography.com/2015/01/01/cees-black-white-photo-challenge-shoes-or-feet/

Detail from the base of a lectern in St Mary’s Church, Beverley. Of course the subject is the feet, but the reflection of the church interior provides context.
