The Fun Foto Challenge this week has the theme of ‘texture’. There’s lots of that in this battered old doll’s baby carriage, not to mention the concreted wall behind it and the gravel beneath.

Look out from the glass-walled lift that’s installed in the church tower of the medieval town of Sarlat, in the Dordogne, and old buildings is just about all you get.

This week, Frank at Dutch Goes The Photo! has returned to the theme of ‘Old’.
As this year is, of course, the centenary of the end of World War I, this image seems appropriate. It is a French Army helmet of the period, now housed in the Museum at the Chateau des Ducs in Nantes.

If I want to see something old, I just need to look in the mirror. Fear not though, I’ll spare you (and me) a self-portrait in response to this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge theme, set by Frank at Dutch Goes The Photo!
Instead – and infinitely more interesting – here is an image of a Roman-era funerary statue recovered from archaeological excavations at Argentomagus, in central France. Is it just me, or does he look like he’s wearing a beanie hat?
