Blue Sky Thinking

The bluest of blue skies above the town of Perigueux.

This image has been cropped but is otherwise completely unretouched: the sky really was that blue.

Boy Blue

On a hot day in Dubai (in November!) the only thing to do is to jump in the swimming pool and cool off.

The Rusty Pram

The Fun Foto Challenge this week has the theme of ‘texture’. There’s lots of that in this battered old doll’s baby carriage, not to mention the concreted wall behind it and the gravel beneath.

Blue reflections

The glass walls of the pool produce the optical illusion that there are two performing seals earning their keep here at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.

Tuesday Photo Challenge: Blue

After last week’s theme of ‘pink’ it’s quite natural for Frank to set us the challenge of ‘Blue’ this week.

I hope this is blue enough for everyone. It’s a detail of the roof of what used to be called the Yas Hotel, on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi – just outside the Formula One racetrack. At night, the colours cycle through the spectrum, but I managed to catch it when it was at its bluest:

Macro Moments: Week 6

With an open topic for this week’s Macro Moments Challenge, I’ve chosen this image of a dragonfly feasting on a stem of tiger grass by our pond. Note the delicacy of the lace structure of the wings; there’s also some wear and tear on a couple of the blue plates that cover the abdomen.

Thursday Doors: Bonnefont

As a special end-of-year treat, this week Norm suggests we recycle a previous post. So here’s a door I used last year for a WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge on the theme of Endurance. You can see why.

The hamlet of Bonnefont is just a few miles from here, but with about 30 houses its a sprawling metropolis compared to here at Tranquility Base, which can muster ten permanently occupied and half a dozen holiday homes.
