Macro Moments Challenge #39 looks for something in black & white; or something that is black and white. Either way, I think this fits the bill: a close-up of the characteristic top of one of my small collection (accumulated over a period of more than thirty years) of Mont Blanc Meisterstuck writing instruments.
Like most people, I imagine, my writing nowadays is usually done with a keyboard, but whenever the need or opportunity arises I still like to use an old-fashioned fountain pen. My absolute favourite is the big old Mont Blanc 149 that I bought in 1985. This is a smaller version, sitting in a mug on my desk.

This unfolding tulip was in a floral display in the town of Confolens that I happened on just after it had rained. As we’re not looking for bokeh this time, I’ve eliminated any background distractions during the editing process.
(I posted a black & white image of the next tulip along as a contribution to Cee’s current Black & White Challenge.)

I should probably have submitted this close-up image of a budding magnolia a month ago, when the official theme was ‘Spring’ (mea culpa – I didn’t notice). Hopefully, though, it’s not too late. And it does have some Bokeh to fulfil this week’s requirement.

It usually comes out of a can, of course, but the surface of a fresh pineapple is fascinating when viewed in close-up.

This week, another close-up of part of the mechanism of our vintage Singer sewing machine. This is a detail of the bobbin winder. It looks to be in pretty good shape for something that’s exactly a hundred years old this year.

Maintaining the stitching theme after last week’s thimble, here is a close-up of part of the mechanism of the vintage Singer sewing machine that we acquired last year. I believe this bit is called the presser foot – including the integral thumb screw.

Madame just loves elephants, and she loves sewing (quilting in particular) too. So when we saw this thimble decorated with a baby elephant, well it just had to join the collection.

‘Baby animals’ is the theme for this week’s macro moments challenge hosted by Sue at Musin’ With Susan. Here, a baby Capucin monkey stays close to its mother at the Vallée des Singes wildlife park:

This week, Sue has set us a specific theme for Macro Moments – ‘Birds’. It’s pretty difficult to get a true macro shot of a bird, I should imagine, so here is a (very) tightly-cropped image of an owl which I took at a display of birds of prey last summer.
Fortunately, I was using my best lens, so I think it has managed to retain enough detail, despite the crop.

Mucking about with my macro lens on a wet afternoon earlier this week, I took this photograph of a pawn from the chess-set that sits on our sofa-table.
