Cee’s theme for her Black & White Challenge this week is something long.
Well, a giraffe came to mind – such as this one in the Game Reserve on Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

The headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) on The Corniche is a landmark in Abu Dhabi.
It’s also where I toiled (figuratively speaking) for the last ten years of my working life, the final part of which was spent in an office on the inner side of the left hand tower, somewhere near the bottom of this image. It was on the 23rd floor, so from ground level you’d certainly have to look upwards.

After last week’s theme of ‘Rest’ it was only logical that this time Frank would be seeking some ‘Action’ images for his Tuesday Photo Challenge.
This is the display team of the Air Force of the United Arab Emirates in action over Abu Dhabi, as part of the country’s National Day celebrations.

Not all forms of public transport are stressful, commuting nightmares. This is the catamaran which ferries guests from the mainland to Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

At the turn of a decade, Frank has chosen the theme of ‘Retrospective’ for his challenge this week.
Ten years ago, we were living in Abu Dhabi and our daughter and her family – including our then two years old twin grandsons – were memorably with us for the Christmas holiday. One day we took them to the water park in the Corniche gardens, where they had great fun getting soaking wet.

Back to a previous life this week for Cee’s Black $ White Photo Challenge with the topic of Doors and Drawers.
This was my office on the twenty-third floor of the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, where I spent the last – and best – ten years of my working life. That’s the door on the right and obviously those are drawers underneath the desktop.
What I can’t get over is how tidy it was. My desk at home is an absolute tip.

When we lived in Abu Dhabi, our go-to place for a little peace and relaxation was the Sir Bani Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi. This was the swimming pool.

A very interesting challenge from Frank this week. He invites us to go to our back catalog(ue) and take a new look at an old image – probably something we could all benefit from doing more often.
This is part of the exterior of a hotel on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The original – reproduced in the smaller photo below – is pretty ho-hum: no doubt why I’ve never done anything with it. However, after some cropping and ‘popping’ in Lightroom post-processing it becomes a more striking abstract geometric composition.
