There’s an abstract, almost painterly feel to this image of trees reflected in a nearby pond:

I saw this group of flamingos on the water in a wildlife park. The isolated bird seems to be haranguing the rest of the group, who are taking not a blind bit of notice.

Frank’s theme for this week is ‘Ring’.
I’m glad about that, because I’ve been waiting a long time to post this – one of the oldest images in my digital photo library. It shows the weir on the River Avon as it flows through the city of Bath, in south-west England and I was attracted by the unusual design of concentric circles.
I suppose you could say that it’s a ring from around (the) Bath [drops microphone, exits stage left]

With an exposure of only 1/2000 of a second, this detail of a water feature in Sydney hardly looks liquid at all.

A different angle on the River Vienne as it flows over the weir in the middle of the town of Chabanais.

Following last week’s theme of ‘Blue’, Frank has set a double challenge for this week with the subject of ‘Water’. Most people will have plenty of photos featuring water, of course, but in how many of those images is the water blue? And haven’t we just done that?
There is certainly an element of blue in this image, but at least it’s not in the water (and there’s plenty of that). This was taken a few years ago at the Corniche Water Park in Abu Dhabi and shows one of my twin grandsons being fascinated by the jets coming from one of the water cannons.

Perfect reflections of the Pont Vieux on the River Vienne as it flows through the town of Confolens.

All along the Corniche in Abu Dhabi runs a park. There are play areas and plenty of items of architectural interest, including this water feature. I particularly like the contrast between the rigid geometry of the mosaic and the concrete on the one hand and the running (falling) water on the other.
It being Abu Dhabi, naturally enough the sun was shining, so the light, shade and shadow add further interest to the composition.

This unfolding tulip was in a floral display in the town of Confolens that I happened on just after it had rained. As we’re not looking for bokeh this time, I’ve eliminated any background distractions during the editing process.
(I posted a black & white image of the next tulip along as a contribution to Cee’s current Black & White Challenge.)
