Wait! Cucumbers Have Flowers?

Not that I’ve ever given the matter much thought, but I was genuinely surprised to see that the cucumber plants in our serre were flowering.

Although since they’re planted next to the courgettes, which even I know have flowers, I really ought to have realised.

Fighting goats

The colour theme for Cee’s midweek challenge this month is yellow.

In the East Lothian town of Haddington there is a statue of a pair of goats fighting. It’s imaginatively called ‘The Haddington Goats’.

And there’s a yellow wall behind it.

Eglantine

I believe that this variety of rose is known as Eglantine and it’s a very old one. It’s also pink, with a yellow heart, so suitable for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week.

52 Week Smartphone Challenge: 11 – Fill The Frame

For week 11 of the Smartphone Challenge hosted by Khürt, we’re invited to fill the frame with a single colour.

Spring seems to have come earlier than usual this year and there are plenty of the usual harbingers already in evidence – like this narcissus.

This week’s Tuesday Challenge at Dutch Goes The Photo is to post an image of something yellow.

I don’t know what these flowers are called, but they are most definitely yellow.

To fit this week’s theme, another image from the inexhaustible fount of photographic possibilities that is Dubai Mall. This one is a lantern, or chandelier if you prefer. I placed the camera on the floor and hovered around it protectively while the exposure was made.
