Muscat’s Grand Mosque

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is to show an image of something large. It’s all relative of course, but if you notice the human figure on the lower left of this photo of the interior of the Grand Mosque in Muscat, Oman it’s pretty clear that it’s…well, Grand.

I do still have a ‘proper’ camera – it’s in the title of this blog – but nowadays it only comes out for special excursions. Smartphone cameras are now so good for normal occasions, and much more convenient than lugging around an old-school full camera kit all the time.
This is yours truly, hiding behind my iPhone 12.

The commune in which we live consists mostly of agricultural land, principally for pasture and mainly for sheep. This particular field is adjacent to the village recycling point.

Captured In Ice

We have had a bit of a cold spell in recent days, with frosty nights – harsh enough to trap this oak leaf in a fold of the tarpaulin that covers our log pile.

Calf’S Head

With one eye on the calendar and the other on Bushboy’s ‘Last Photo On The Card’ challenge, on February 27th I took a perfectly pleasant picture of an oak leaf encased in ice. “That’ll do nicely”, I thought to myself.
However, the following day we visited our local butcher (a proper butcher, not a counter in a supermarket). When we entered the shop, one of the butchers was setting about this with a very sharp knife.
We’ve seen worse.

Where are We?

“Siri, give me an image that shows where we are without saying where we are”.
