Last On The Card April 2026

About six or seven years ago, we (i.e. Madame) sowed a wild flowers mix in a couple of our raised beds. The most successful of these proved to be the orange poppies. They returned and proliferated for the next couple of years before their numbers dropped steadily and, as I recall, last year there were none. Now, however, they’re coming back and there already five, of which this was the first.

Last On The Card January 2026

This is the last photo I took in January, although it was only during a particularly cold snap, as far back as the 5th.

Last on the card: Golden leaves

Autumn colours are everywhere at the moment, but this tree in a shop’s car park was a particularly fine specimen, especially in the sunshine.

Last On The Card: The Fallen Leaf

After a period of strong wind and heavy rain, this oak leaf ended up on top of the wall of one of our raised beds.

Last On The Card – July 2025

This is Poppy, my niece’s chocolate brown Labrador puppy. Daft as a brush, obviously, but here she had found a (relatively) quiet corner during a frenetic children’s birthday party. I was already there….

Just leave me alone…

Last Photo March 2025

These white pansies have just returned for another season in one of our flowerbeds (yes it does need weeding).

Last Photo: Their day is done

I spotted these past-their-sell-by-date roses in the main (i.e. only) square of our nearest village.

Last On The Card December 2024

I took this photo as the sun set on New Year’s Eve. Darkness is falling on 2024 but high in the sky an aeroplane is heading south, to a hopefully brighter future.

Last Photo November 2024

The last photo I took in November was this defiant geranium, gamely hanging on in one of our raised beds.

The blooms are low-hanging, but these creaking bones couldn’t face the prospect of having to kneel on the path to get the shot – I might not be able to get up again – so I used the front camera on my iPhone. I think it turned out okay.

(No editing of course, because them’s the rules.)

Free-standing

The last photo I took in September, with my trusty iPhone 14 Pro, was this image of a stone archway in the village of Rancon.

The rules of Bushboy’s Last Photo Challenge are that you present that last photo ‘warts and all’, as it were. In other words without any editing.

So that’s what I’ve done here. However, on closer inspection I was so struck by the image that I’ve also smartened it up for the latest Lens-Artists Challenge. You can find that version here.
