This old bicycle which has been repurposed as a sort of window-box was just crying out for the sepia treatment.

The seed head of the variety of grass known as Queen Ann’s Lace is naturally fuzzy, but is rendered even more so after a heavy frost.

This grasshopper must have got blown off course, as it finds itself in the middle of an orange poppy in our garden.

Last year, we (which is to say Madame) sowed a selection of wild flowers in a couple of raised beds in our garden. This year we have a colourful swathe of bright orange poppies, which have obviously self-seeded.
Monochrome, however, helps to bring out the detail of the heart of the flower.

Frank’s theme for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge is ‘Growth’, so flowers seems like a logical place to go to find an appropriate image, notwithstanding that I posted a picture of some roses last time.
I saw this tightly packed group of lily buds in the Botanical Gardens in Sydney a few years ago. There’s plenty of potential growth here and perhaps the tight crop lifts the shot a little out of the ordinary.

Frank’s chosen the topic of ‘Rose’ for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge. I have no shortage of images of roses in my library, so the only problem was selecting one previously unposted. I think this fits the bill. It’s a French rose called ‘Pierre de Ronsard’ and I saw it last year at the annual festival of roses at Doué-La-Fontaine

The plant kingdom is an obvious source of colourful monotones for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week, as demonstrated by this vibrant pink rose.

For this week’s ‘Fun Foto’ Challenege, Cee is looking for a macro or close-up image. Well, here is a look into the heart of a flowering lily. Be sure to keep that pollen off your clothes, because you’ll never get it off.

Appropriately enough for the time of year (in the northern hemisphere, at any rate), Cee’s Fun ‘Foto’ Challenge theme this week is ‘cold’.
After the temperature dips overnight in the absence of any cloud cover, the bay leaves on our laurel bushes are tipped with frost.

Not in my backyard…but in my mother’s.
The almost translucent heads of these three stray poppies, sneaking under the fence from next door, stood out really well against the wooden fence. My new(ish) iPhone captured them pretty sharply, I think.
