Our challenge this week is to inject a little humour into proceedings by adding a caption to the selected image under the broad theme of ‘the first thing I thought of’.
This was indeed the first thing I thought of and – even better – it comes complete with its own ready-made caption. This little figurine has sat on my desk, whether at work or, as now, at home for more than thirty years.
Not that I ever feel put upon, you understand…

In France, letterboxes in doors are very much the exception rather than the rule. Like most people, we have instead a boite postale (postbox). Commonly, these are stuck on top of a pole at the side of the road. However, ours – a metal one, as per the approved design – is actually built in to a stone gate post.
So my question is: given its secure and watertight location, – and the fact that it’s open for an average of no more than five seconds a day, six days a week – how in blue blazes did that snail get inside it? It’s not the first either. Do snails have access to technology that would put Star Trek to shame?

The owners of this beauty parlour in the town of St. Junien clearly believed that their special offer on suncare products was especially worthy of note.
Public art is indeed a very broad category.

One thing at least we can agree on: there are two ms in’ Marmite’. Accordingly, this image qualifies for Cee’s Midweek Challenge this week.
Traditionally, there is no middle way when it comes to Marmite: you either love it or you hate it. Personally, I am strongly of the latter persuasion, but Madame loves it – particularly with the added refinement of salad cream.
Don’t judge us.
I suppose it could be worse: she might support Everton.
