A pretty straightforward response to this week’s challenge subject of ‘Mirror’, but I like the way that (fortuitously) the reflected clouds blend with the actual clouds beyond, while the blue sky between the clouds in the mirror itself reflects the curve of the road.
This mirror is at a particularly awkward junction in the nearby town of Le Dorat, although the road was clear when I took the photograph: just as well, because I was probably standing in the middle of it at the time.

And here’s another mirror image, also from Le Dorat and already published in another post, with clouds reflected in one of the metal discs that demarcate parking spaces in the main square:

Two frames for the price of one in this photograph, taken from the entrance of one of the tombs at Petra, looking through an archway to the rows of seats in the theatre beyond.

In the desert outside Al Ain, in the United Arab Emirates, anything green is a rare commodity.

The morning sun shines through the east window of the church at Blond, in the Limousin region of France, casting this impressionistic image of the stained glass across the stone floor next to the altar.

This is a view of the long, deep and narrow gorge , called the ‘Siq’, that is the main entrance to the historical site of Petra, in Jordan. The two figures on horseback give a good idea of scale.

Having a sometimes overly literal frame of mind, finding an image to fit this week’s topic of ‘cherry on top’ presented some intial difficulties: i.e nothing in my collection with cherries on.
However, there is this photograph (which I admit to posting before, as part of Cee’s Compose Yourself Photo Challenge) of a performing seal at Taronga Zoo in Sydney that comes reasonably close to the mark.

This photograph was taken when I first got my Nikon 105mm Macro lens to play with. It’s the centre of a lily flower and you can see the pollen that you can never get rid off if it gets on your clothes…

…as you can see from the original

The Ostensions is a religious festival that takes place every seven years, over the spring and summer. 2016 is one of those years.
During this period, relics of the saints are paraded through the main towns in the region.
For the period of the Ostensions, the cathedral at Limoges and its surroundings are bedecked by colourful bunting.

The sceptic in me can’t help feeling that this lady and her dog (oh, and the lace parasol) were artfully posed on the riverbank – with a very grand chateau in the background, by the way – purely for photographic purposes. Anyway, I think it makes a pleasing image for this week’s challenge.
