I have to say that I’m not a great fan of board (bored?) games: probably something to do with the sinking of my boredom threshold as I get older. Nonetheless, we have a decent selection in a cupboard.

Roman abstract

This photo shows a detail from the Roman museum in Perigueux. It’s part of a carefully reconstructed Roman villa which is replete with statuary and carved stonework. However, I thought this crop made for an interesting abstract image when rendered into monochrome.

Cee’s topic for her latest midweek challenge is ‘calypso (ocean) colours’. This exercise in the rule of thirds is of a jet ski racing up and down the coastline of Abu Dhabi along the Corniche.

Like arable farmers everywhere, the locals practice crop rotation. A couple of years ago our friend Jean-Claude gave over one of his fields to cultivating sunflowers.

In France, it is a legal requirement that all doors with external access must have a light above them (although it doesn’t have to be on all the time). This one is above our kitchen door.

The new car

One of our near neighbours is something of a car enthusiast. Given that the most common form of automotive transport in these parts is a small white panel van, this turquoise Porsche Carrera is pretty much guaranteed to stand out from the crowd.

There’s a metal five-barred gate that allows tractors to get into the fields behind our house. It’s secured by this bolt, as seen on a very frosty morning.
