Living Colour

The island of Burano, in the Venetian Lagoon, is noted for the bright colours that the residents paint their houses.

The red (and I do mean red) tractor

This old tractor, seen at a nearby display of old agricultural machinery, has certainly been well driven and it’s undoubtedly colourful, so fits the brief for Cee’s Fun ‘Foto’ Challenge this week.

Tourist Attraction

Cee’s Fun Foto theme for this week is just about as close to carte blanche as it’s possible to be. ‘Places people visit’: well, if there’s a photograph of it somebody must have visited it, in order to take the shot.

It’s fun being a pedant.

In the spirit of the theme, though, this place is definitely a tourist attraction and to prove it, this view of the cathedral of Saint-Front in Perigueux was actually taken from the window of our hotel room. I’ve stayed in places with worse views.

Bishop’s Move

I used to be quite keen on chess – but that was over fifty years ago. Nowadays, although we do have a very nice chess set on display it very rarely gets used. I definitively gave up when my grandson – ten at the time – beat me comprehensively.

A bed of roses?

Back in July I visited the village of Doue La Fontaine during its annual rose festival. As well as displaying a huge number of different varieties of rose, there was also an exhibition of sculptures made up of roses, such as this deckchair:

Subliminal Advertising

After last week’s call for vibrant colours, Cee is looking for pastels this time.

This is a very large – and circular – electronic display screen which can be found in Dubai Mall. The colours can and do vary considerably, but I managed to capture this image when it was in a more restful mood.

Scene through an archway

The nearby town of Confolens abounds with photographic opportunities, especially on calm, cloudless days that produce almost flawless reflections on the River Vienne.

On the right bank of the river there are a number of these archways that provide interesting frames for the vibrant colours.

Red railing

You could argue all night about what is the photographer’s greatest friend, but I’d have to say that a red foreground object must be among the frontrunners.

Imagine how dull this picture would be without that red railing.
