I believe that this variety of rose is known as Eglantine and it’s a very old one. It’s also pink, with a yellow heart, so suitable for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week.

For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge with the theme of ‘opposing colours’ here’s a classic subject with a classic colour contrast:

Frank’s chosen the topic of ‘Rose’ for this week’s Tuesday Photo Challenge. I have no shortage of images of roses in my library, so the only problem was selecting one previously unposted. I think this fits the bill. It’s a French rose called ‘Pierre de Ronsard’ and I saw it last year at the annual festival of roses at Doué-La-Fontaine

The plant kingdom is an obvious source of colourful monotones for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week, as demonstrated by this vibrant pink rose.

Back in July I visited the village of Doue La Fontaine during its annual rose festival. As well as displaying a huge number of different varieties of rose, there was also an exhibition of sculptures made up of roses, such as this deckchair:

This slightly blown rose was standing all alone in the nearby village of Lesterps and for some reason which I cannot now remember I was unable to get very close to it for a conventional sharp flower image.
However, by cropping as I have and retaining some of the blurred, out-of-focus background (reinforced by a little vignetting and dehazing in Lightroom) I think it stands out at least as well as it would have done if it filled the whole frame.

This week, for Musin’ with Susan’s maco challenge, here are some raindrops on roses. Don’t expect whiskers on kittens any time soon.

Usually, the point about flowers is the colour, but this monochrome image of a rosebud (taken at Chédigny) highlights the intricately furled petals.
