High stakes

A neatly stacked pile of sharpened wooden stakes at Vignoble des Champs Gonneau, a vineyard in central France. They make a very agreeable rosé…(the grapes, not the wood).

The tracks at Albi station
Posted on October 7, 2023
Albi is the principal town of the Tarn departément and its main railway station was once clearly very busy. However, now only two sets of tracks are in use.

Cee’s Which Way Challenge this week is looking for images of signs. This one, extolling the nutritional value of wine is hanging on the wall in the bar of our favourite local restaurant. They left out the fact that it could also be considered as at least one of your five a day.

The old bridge in Bellac

The medieval bridge in the ‘Quartiers pittoresque’ of the town of Bellac. Taken from a riverside cafe where, unfortunately, the quality of the cuisine falls far short of the quality of the location.

Room at the top

A typical staircase in a typical Paris hotel. Our room was on the top (sixth) floor. And, as usual, the lift is about as big as an upright refrigerator.

Two roses
Posted on September 15, 2023
These roses in our son’s garden in Oxfordshire were a particularly delicate shade of pink.

Sharing the nectar
Posted on September 7, 2023
I spotted these two bees taking their fill of nectar from one of the flowers in my son’s garden. Looks like there was plenty to go round.

Smell the roses
Posted on September 2, 2023
This is the road that runs through the Cotswold village of Hook Norton, not far from where our son and his family live.
And that’s our grand-daughter smelling the roses outside that spectacularly floribund house.
