I wouldn’t even try to drink the water from this ancient pump, which can be found hard up against the ramparts of the medieval centre of the nearby town of Confolens.

Lots of texture in this detail of a selection of saints to be found at Chartres Cathedral:

This Celtic cross was spotted in a display of ornaments in a garden centre. It’s pre-cast rather than carved, obviously, but nonetheless the texture is interesting.

A contribution to Tuesdays of Texture, hosted by Narami at De Monte Y Mar.

This well-weathered cartwheel was spotted in the grounds of a hotel in the wine country of New South Wales:

On a wet afternoon last week I was roaming the house with my macro lens and got this close-up image, which revealed the interesting texture of the central inset.
We must have picked up this Jordanian half-dinar coin when we visited Petra, almost five years ago.

Don’t get too excited: it’s worth about 70 US cents, or £0.65.

Apparently, a bizarre cat lives behind this ancient door (albeit one with a modern lock) on a house in the medieval quarter of Confolens:

It’s too early in the year to be able to say for sure what exactly this moss-covered tree (bush?) is, but it’s espaliered against part of the old ramparts of the town of Confolens – and obviously has been for some time:

This Shetland pony was one of a small group that used to live in a field just down the lane from where we live. This might have been a bad hair day.

These railings, around one of the larger houses in the local village of Mézières-sur-Issoire, could do with a fresh coat of paint; but would they necessarily look any better for it?
