Although this window is part of the edifice of one of the grandest buildings in Bruges, it’s a little surprising to find it at the end of a very narrow and nondescript alleyway.

Thursday Doors – St Junien revisited

Recently we’ve had to spend some time at the hospital in the nearby town of St-Junien.
It’s a comparatively modern place, although it replaced an adjacent much older and smaller institution:

It’s on the outskirts of the town but is surrounded by old houses, some of which boast rather interesting – in a decrepit kind of way – doors:

Some are better looked after than others:

But for a demonstration of what it means to be houseproud, it’s tough to beat the lace curtains on this garage:

Tuesday Photo Challenge: Retrospective

At the turn of a decade, Frank has chosen the theme of ‘Retrospective’ for his challenge this week.
Ten years ago, we were living in Abu Dhabi and our daughter and her family – including our then two years old twin grandsons – were memorably with us for the Christmas holiday. One day we took them to the water park in the Corniche gardens, where they had great fun getting soaking wet.

Monday Window – Le Dorat

The nearby town of Le Dorat hosted the ‘Mondial de Tonte’ (that’s the world sheep-shearing championships) back in July. For such an occasion, the place was, naturally, ‘en fête’, with most shop doors and windows being decorated with amusing pictures such as this one:
